Sipping on Something Good: Strawberry Cream Cheese Milk

Studying without eating is unthinkable–in my books, at least.

And since there’s food, there has to be some kind of drink, right? To be honest, I’m quite excited about this drink, and how it’s borne out of an experiment and an inspiration.

I’ve been drinking a lot of milk teas with different flavours and the one that struck me most was the “cocoa cream cheese” one. But since I have had trouble sleeping lately, caffeinated drinks were out of the question.

Inspiration struck. I have strawberry milk powder and strawberry jam.  So I put myself to work. With a bit of whisking, and stirring, and a lot of trial and error, my little drink baby was born: a lovely concoction of cream, strawberry milk powder, strawberry jam and cream cheese. And boy, it tasted so good. 😉

Yep, Strawberry cream cheese milk. Don’t knock it until you try it! 🙂

You’ll need:

4 tablespoons cream cheese (this is the cream cheese-from-the-jar variety–I swear by Arla’s cream cheese, hehe)

2 teaspoons milk

3 heaping teaspoons  strawberry milk powder (If you’re from the Philippines, Bear Brand has a pretty yummy strawberry milk powder, and it’ll do just fine. If you’re outside the Philippines, Nesquik strawberry powder is just as good, but use 2 tablespoons instead as Nesquik is sweeter)

3 teaspoons strawberry jam

water (1/2 cup)

1/4 cup ice cubes

Directions:

In a small cup, whisk 2 teaspoons milk and 4 tablespoons cream cheese together. Whisk until the consistency is less coagulated, but not runny. Set aside mixture.

In a large cup or tumbler–preferably with a lid as there is going to be a lot of shaking involved–combine the following ingredients: strawberry milk powder and strawberry jam, the cream, ice cubes and half of the milk-cream cheese mixture. Then add 1/2 cup water, and shake well. When ingredients are properly incorporated, remove the lid of the tumbler, and add the remaining half of the cream cheese-milk mixture.

And that’s pretty much it. Enjoy! 🙂
